The story of the people who built, defended, endured and carried Masinloc forward. Long before Masinloc entered the written record, there were already people here. Centuries later, their courage survives in battles, buildings, language, faith and names we are still trying to recover.

Looking Beyond the Destination
Masinloc has rivers, a coastline, an island, a cave and a heritage church. Each one sits in a barangay, and each has people who know it.
This platform gathers what is known about them in one place, for residents, researchers and Masinloqueños living elsewhere.
Verified History
Masinloc’s documented founding year is 1607, not 1572. Our source-led history follows the town from Fray Andrés del Espíritu Santo and the first mission church to the 1649 coastal defense, Barrio San Vicente, and the living memory of Binabayani.
Documented history remains distinct from oral tradition, interpretation, and information that still requires verification.
Sambal Tina Language and Culture
Sambal Tina is the language of Masinloc, and very little of it has ever been written down.
Through Sambal Tina words, phrases, meanings, and cultural context, the platform aims to help preserve local knowledge and make it more accessible to future generations.
The People of Masinloc
The town is its people, and most of what it knows is carried by them rather than filed anywhere.
We aim to highlight the stories, work, ideas, businesses, contributions, and experiences of Masinloqueños from different parts of the community.
