This is a growing digital collection of Sambal Tina words for Masinloc. We gather words and meanings, organize them, review them, and verify what we can. Just as important, we invite Masinloqueños to help us keep the language alive by sharing the words they grew up hearing, the meanings they know, and the corrections that can make this collection better.

Sambal Tina 101
You do not need to be a linguist to learn Sambal Tina. Start with a few simple ideas, then listen to how people actually speak it.
Sambal is a broader name connected to the Sambalic languages and the Sambal people of Zambales. Sambal Tina is the local variety familiar in communities including Masinloc. In everyday conversation, some people may call it a dialect. In linguistic references, Tinà Sambal is recognized as a distinct language of its own. Both ways of talking about it reflect different contexts, but here we use Sambal Tina for the language variety we are learning and documenting in Masinloc.
Traditional Sambal Tina writing is built around three core vowels: A, I, and O. You may hear sounds that resemble E or U, especially in newer speech or borrowed words, but older Sambal Tina spelling commonly represents the core vowel system with A, I, and O.
You may see traditional Sambal Tina words written with C where a modern Filipino reader might expect K. The letter K is part of the Filipino alphabet and is not “wrong.” In this project, we respect established Sambal Tina spellings while also helping learners understand why C and K may appear differently across older and newer writing.
Words can come from everyday speech, families, teachers, elders, writers, learning materials, and community knowledge. The goal is to bring useful Sambal Tina together where people can actually find it.
We review spellings and meanings, compare forms, and check unfamiliar or conflicting entries. Verification takes time, especially when one word may be remembered or written differently by different speakers.
